Choosing an Underbody Kit

Underbody kits have changed drastically since they were first introduced. Car enthusiasts can now choose from tons of colors and patterns, all digitally controlled. When deciding on an underbody kit, there are some important considerations that must be made beforehand. They include what features you would like, the price and whether or not underbody kits are legal in your particular state.

The amount of money that you will pay for an underbody kit will differ greatly based on where or who you purchase them from. You can find them very inexpensively online at places like eBay or other online stores. Essentially, it will be dependent upon where you choose to purchase your kit from. If you buy them from an off-line store, you will likely pay more than if you purchased them online. Some people mistakenly believe that if they buy directly from the manufacturer that they will save money. This generally is not true unless you are able to buy them in bulk.

If you want a very high quality underbody kit, it is important to note that understandably you will most likely pay much more than you would for a simpler, cheaper one. However, you may not be an individual the wants tons of different colors, patterns or designs. If not and you are happy with just one color, then you should be able to find a good kit for less than $250.

Most underbody kits come in one color. However, more expensive ones will have multiple colors, and that can set to whatever color that you like. You may also be able to change them as well. You will want to be careful about using red and blue strobbing lights as you many find yourself in trouble for impersonating a cop. Purchasing an underbody kit with various patterns is also an option. LED kits allow you to do so. These are great if you are showing off your car at a car show or with your friends, you may want to avoid this while driving and especially if there are any cops around.

Underbody kits can be controlled with a simple switch or with something a bit more tech savvy such as Bluetooth wireless technology. You may also choose to go with a wireless remote. The choice is yours and will be dependent upon the price that you are willing to pay and your liking.

Before you go out and purchase an underbody kit, it is very important to determine whether or not they are legal. Checking out your state's vehicle codes or calling your local law enforcement agency will help you determine whether or not it is legal. If it is not, and you have already installed it, you most likely will have to uninstall it, especially if you get pulled over. It would be extremely disappointing and a good waste of money to purchase a kit, pay for it to be installed, only to find out that they are illegal in your state. Therefore, do your homework early, so that you don't waste your time or money.
